My Philosophy of Birth
I believe that birth is a natural, normal, and significant event in a woman’s life.
I believe that women’s bodies are strong, beautiful, and sacred; they should be treated with respect.
I believe that a woman should give birth where she feels safe and supported.
I believe that every woman is entitled to correct information concerning her body and her baby; she has the right to make informed decisions.
I believe that birth experiences last a lifetime, and that they help shape a woman's perception of motherhood and womanhood.
I believe that birth is a woman's ultimate act of creation.
I believe that all women, no matter how or where they choose to birth, should have continuous support, encouragement, and respect.
Isaiah 41:10 - “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (NIV)

Hi, My name is Janet Harder, and I am one of the doulas in Kamloops, BC.
As a proud mother of three boys, I have personally experienced the joys and challenges of pregnancy, labor & delivery, breastfeeding, and the postpartum period.
After the birth of my first two children, which were both traumatic experiences, I began to search for a way to support families through this exciting, yet anxious time. A friend of mind suggested that I look into becoming a doula. After reading about what a birth doula was, I knew that this was exactly what I was searching for. I went for training shortly afterwards, and began my road to becoming as educated as I could about pregnancy, labour, delivery and breastfeeding. To this day I am still looking for continuing education on how I can best serve women.
I am thankful to have been involved in a number of birthing experiences since I have started in 2002. Providing doula care and prenatal classes in Kamloops is a passion, and it would be an honor to be part of your birth journey.
It is my personal belief, that any woman who wants doula care, should have it; so please don't hesitate to contact me to discuss my affordable, flexible fees.
